Eye-opening health

Our eyes are the most sophisticated of cameras in existence. They see, capture, and retain all sights around us. A host of tiny veins, muscles, and nerves in the back of the eye ensure smooth vision.

The Ahava Medical vision is to perfect your vision. Our ophthalmologists are here to see to you and your eye concerns with expertise and skill. Nothing should come in the way of perfect sight.

Ophthalmology FAQ

What is the difference between Ophthalmology and Optometry?

Optometry is a field in which superficial vision problems are addressed, whereas ophthalmology focuses on the back anatomy of the eye.

What are common disorders in ophthalmology?

Common diseases treated by ophthalmologists are:
Macular degeneration-blurred central vision usually caused by age
Cataracts-an opaque coating over the eye that causes blurred vision
Diabetic Retinopathy.
Glaucoma-abnormal pressure in the optic nerve, causing vision loss or blindness
Amblyopia-one eye that lags behind the other, eventually shutting down functionality if not corrected. (Commonly referred to as lazy eye)
Strabismus-an inability to have both eyes focusing in the same direction, resulting in double vision or blurred vision. (Commonly referred to as cross-eyes)
